Aztec Inspiration
Mesoamerica, a Greek term meaning “middle America,” is a cultural and historical region that extends roughly from Central Mexico to Costa Rica. The Aztecs were an agricultural people who lived in Central Mexico during the fourteenth to sixteenth centuries.
For hundreds of years, the concept of “cycles of time” was common in Mesoamerica. The Aztec calendar emerged as a variation of earlier charts such as the ancient Mayan calendar. Priests and leaders followed and tracked planetary and solar events to make their most important decisions each year. Like the Mayan calendar, the Aztec calendar consists of a 260 day ritual cycle and a 365 day calendar cycle.
