From The Kewa Pueblo
The Kewa Pueblo, formally called the Santo Domingo Pueblo, is located on the east bank of the Rio Grande between Albuquerque and Santa Fe, New Mexico. The pueblo has a long history of producing, trading and selling crafts, especially jewelry and pottery.
Santo Domingo or Kewa Pueblo jewelry is known for its vibrant colors and clean cut pieces made by the pueblo people. Artists with a long history of stonework, they are highly skilled in creating handmade Heishi (Kewa word for “beads”) and mosaic inlay on shell backing.
